Retail Bakery Manager - Bathurst 

 

BRAND NEW STORE

We are looking for a driven and enthusiastic Retail Café Bakery Manager to assist us in opening and managing our new Bathurst store.  Village Bakehouse Bathurst is estimated to open to the public in late 2022.

We are seeking a highly motivated industry professional to take our business to the next level of customer service. You will be a hands-on manager who is excited to be able to showcase our onsite Bakery and train and mentor staff to be as passionate about their work as you are, as well as cultivating and promoting a great team culture.

We are looking for a person who will persistently focus on the core goals of the business and motivate a team to ensure a fantastic work environment that is both financially and personally rewarding. The ideal person for this role will:

  • Oversee and run the daily operations of the business to ensure it maintains its projected financial targets

  • Positively represent the Village Bakehouse brand to the public to maximise the growth of the business

ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

 

You will be a proactive manager, dedicated to the professional development of your team and be as passionate about the business as our family are. You will possess a high level of enthusiasm and be eager to work with us to take the business to the next level.

 

To assist you in your training and development, you will be trained and mentored within our busy Village Bakehouse Dubbo store. Accommodation, meal allowance and travel allowance and will be provided.

 

ABOUT THE ROLE

Reporting directly to the Retail Operations Manager your responsibilities within this role will include but are not limited to:

  • Manage the daily operations of the business

  • Develop a cohesive team culture

  • Rostering of staff to pre-determined percentages

  • Develop, implement and manage staff training programs

  • Maintain a safe workplace

  • Customer Relationship Management

  • Showcase the onsite bakery theatre

  • Maintain food safety standards.

  • Stock management, inventory control & ordering of supplies

  • Financial Management

  • Human Resource and performance management

  • Assist Head Office with marketing initiatives

 

ABOUT YOU

  • Experience in managing a drive-thru store is preferred but not essential

  • Minimum 3 years experience in a similar role

  • Ability to build strong local and community-based relationships

  • Barista experience

  • Food Safety/Food Handling certification (preferred but not essential)

  • A passion for outstanding product development and customer service

  • Management experience, leading a team of 10+ people

  • Personable, approachable and willing to lead and grow with a team

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Impeccable attention to detail

  • Flexibility to work a combination of mornings, days and afternoons along with weekends and public holidays

  • Experience working with POS systems, eftpos terminals, Microsoft Office suite

  • Experience with rostering, wages

  • Above average problem-solving skills

  • Ability to travel to and from Village Bakehouse Dubbo to be trained and mentored – accommodation, meal allowance and travel provided

JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Train and empower all employees to operate at their maximum capacity to achieve the business goals

  • Showcase the onsite Bakery to bring out the best in the staff and the theatre baking concept

  • Develop and implement staff training programs

  • Motivate all staff to share the common goal of being an industry leader in the coffee and Bakehouse cultures

  • Lead by example with a can-do attitude, professional manner, great organisational skills, customer service focus and knowledge of the products

  • Focused on a safe workplace for both staff and customers

  • Be hands on in preparing and serving products to customers in peak service periods.

  • Maintain food safety standards

  • Ensure all food and coffee made is of the highest standard

  • Address specific customer concerns in a timely and professional manner to ensure we do not have a repeat occurrence

  • Communicate with the wholesale department and suppliers for all stock ordering, returns, new menu items and quality control of produce supplied.

  • Oversee and post all social media communication to ensure it is relevant and of a positive nature

 

ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • 3+ years experience in a similar position in a fast paced food and hospitality environment

  • Proven business acumen and track record of leading a team of 10+

  • Experienced in rostering, labour percentages and P & L

  • Barista experience - drink coffee, live coffee, love coffee

  • A passion for outstanding products and customer service

  • Personable, approachable and willing to lead and grow with the team

  • Computer skills in word, excel, email, social media platforms, POS systems, Eftpos terminals

  • Above average problem solving skills

  • Available for a 7 day rotating roster, some weekends and early starts

Reporting directly to the Store Manager and alongside our highly skilled chefs your responsibilities within this role will include but are not limited to:

 

  • Assisting with food preparation, assembly and food storage as required

  • Cooking of key ingredients and produce

  • Assisting with seasonal menu development

  • Maintain kitchen inventory

  • Ensuring ingredients are tagged, date-labelled, covered, stored, and rotated effectively

Bakery Café Store Supervisor - Dubbo

Our after school juniors are pivotal to the day-to-day operations of our business. Their role is to prepare orders and offer exceptional service to our customers. Trained by our team of crew trainers, our juniors are coached and encouraged daily.

Our baristas are trained to provide our customers with the richest, smoothest espresso products, constant on-going training allows our baristas to develop and adapt to market trends.
